Aviation Capital Group Delivers Third of 4 A321neo to Spirit Airlines

Leasing companies are important entities in the world of modern aviation. Without them it would be difficult for emerging airlines to get their fleet set up. However even larger more established airlines rely on these companies. That is also the case with American low cost carrier (LCC) Spirit Airlines. The yellow LCC has just received a new jet from Aviation Capital Group. Here are the details.

What Aircraft Did Spirit Receive And How Many More To Come?

The aircraft Spirit has just received from Aviation Capital Group is a brand new Airbus A321neo. The aircraft is, no joke, brand new straight out of the Airbus assembly line.

The agreement in place between Spirit Airlines and Aviation Capital Group is for a total of 4 jets. This particular jet is the third of the group to join the LCC's fleet.

The airline operates and all A320 family fleet, therefore needs constant refreshing of the fleet in order to keep all operations running smoothly year after year. Specifically the airline 202 A320 family planes.

This latest addition to the Spirit Airlines fleet will be configured in no different way to the one seen on the other A321neo's already operating. That means that it'll have an all economy cabin with:

  • 8 Big front chairs in a 2-2 layout
  • 227 Standard Economy Class seats in a 3-3 layout

Why Does Even a Big Airline Like Spirit Use Leasing Companies?

For larger airlines it is often a matter of time. Aircraft manufacturers can only churn out so many planes per month and the waiting times for new planes are long a sometimes don't meet the needs of all airlines.

Therefore even larger organizations, such as Spirit Airlines, also rely on leasing companies that also have orders with the manufacturers in order to get access to new machinery sooner without having to wait extremely long periods of time.
