It’s always an exciting moment when airlines reveal their new cabin interiors when refreshing the look of their aircraft. This time it’s LOT Polish Airlines which is revealing the new look for not only the soon to come Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft but also for the just recently ordered Airbus A220s in partnership with Recaro. So let’s take a look at what the new cabin interiors will look like.

Update – January 2026
LOT Polish Airlines has now placed the first retrofitted Boeing 737 MAX 8 into commercial service, marking the operational debut of the new cabin interior first unveiled in 2025. The aircraft entered service on 2 January 2026, following a comprehensive cabin retrofit programme focused on passenger comfort, lighting, and brand consistency across LOT’s short- and medium-haul fleet.
The First Boeing 737 MAX 8 With LOT’s New Cabin Has Entered Service
Little less than six months have passed since LOT announced its plan to update the cabin interiors of its Boeing 737 MAX 8 fleet along with its new A220 interior look. Here we are in January 2026 with the first Boeing 737 MAX 8 fitted with the new cabins taking to the skies.

The new cabin interiors are designed by the UK-based firm Tangerine, and physically produced in Recaro’s Polish plant. The interior’s concept is inspired by Poland’s natural landscapes such as the Tatra Mountains.

The color palette is in line with the LOT brand identity which we’ve seen present even in the newly opened lounges in Chicago and Warsaw.
LOT’s aim is to create a brand and experience continuity across all customer touch-points. What customers feel and see on the website, at the airport, in the lounge and on all aircraft should be well aligned. I’ve been following LOT closely over the past 12 months and this has been something that the airline has taken to heart and is doing a fantastic job on.
The seats on the newly retrofitted LOT Boeing 737 MAX 8 feature:
- New slimline economy seats
- Six-way adjustable headrests
- 60W USB-C power at every seat
- Integrated mobile device holders
- Updated LED mood lighting designed to reduce fatigue

LOT Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 8 Fleet Expansion: 13 New Aircraft Coming
The first aircraft type to receive the new redesigned cabin interiors is the Boeing 737 MAX 8. LOT Polish Airlines has a very simple and streamlined fleet featuring one aircraft type per type of operation.
- Long haul flights are operated exclusively on the Boeing 787 Dreamliners
- Medium haul on the Boeing 737s
- Short haul on the Embraer E-Series to be replaced by the A220s
Boeing 737 MAX 8 Expected by Year-End 2025
Another 13 Boeing 737 MAX 8 are expected to join the LOT fleet by the end of the year. These planes will be the first to have the new and redesigned cabin interiors featuring the Recaro R2 seats. It’s not totally clear if all Boeing 737 MAX 8 still in the pipeline will be delivered by the end of the year or some of them will spill over to 2026.

Boeing 737 MAX 8 Specifications and Route Plans
Those Boeing 737-800s and 737 MAX 8 are the real workhorse of the LOT fleet as they operate not only high demand European services but also flights to the middle east. It even pushes these planes into central Asia operating flight to Astana and Tashkent. We might see more flights of this sort with the additional Boeing 737 MAX 8s in the fleet.

RECARO Seats: Polish-Made Premium Cabin Experience
What adds another layer of interest to this story is that the seats that will be soon fitted on the Polish flag carrier’s aircraft are also manufactured in Poland.
Åšwiebodzin Factory Manufacturing Partnership
The German seat manufacturing giant Recaro has one of its production plants in Poland. That plant, situated in Åšwiebodzin, has been working on manufacturing the Recaro R2 seats that will soon be flying aboard the airline’s Boeing 737 MAX 8s.
As a side story, the factory is also producing the R3 economy seats which are planned to be retrofitted onto LOT’s Boeing 787s.
Seat Design Features: Lightweight and Durable Construction
The new seat is quite essential, as we’ve come to expect for economy class on European airlines on narrow body aircraft.
The airline and the seat manufacturer, however, state that the foundational principal for the new design is passenger comfort. We’ll have to trust them on that until we have a chance to try them for ourselves.
The seats come:
- In leather dress covers in classic LOT Blue corporate color
- The airline’s logo embroidered on the seats
- A six way adjustable headrest
- Offering 6 inches of recline
- USB-C 60W Charging port
- Seat back device holder
Enhanced Passenger Comfort Amenities
This should boil down to a more comfortable passenger experience when flying medium haul with LOT. I mentioned the presence of a Seat Back device holder. However among the amenities offered by the Polish airline there is no stream to your device entertainment service. What I mean to say with that is, make sure to download some content to watch onboard before departing.
Airbus A220 Aircraft Get Matching Cabin Interior Treatment
I like what LOT will also be doing with the new R2 economy class seat, which is fit it on the other narrow body plane which will soon be part of the airline’s fleet: the A220. The A220 order was only in June 2025 at the Paris Air Show and was one of the main talking points as LOT broke it’s historic partnership with Embraer.
Paris Air Show Order Details
LOT announced it would be including into its fleet the Airbus A220 in both its 100 and larger 300 variants in June 2025. It got many talking when at the Paris Air Show LOT broke the news it would be breaking its long standing partnership with Embraer ordering 40 A220s.

Unified Cabin Design Strategy Across Fleet
Consistency is the key word and concept which will dominate the cabin interiors across the Boeing 737 and A220 fleets. Both planes will feature the exact same seat, the Recaro R2. The configuration will be different, with the Boeing 737 in a 3-3 classic layout and the A220 in the standard 2-3 layout.
I really like the idea that the passenger experience will be uniformed between the most utilized aircraft in the LOT fleet. As a passenger you’ll always know what to expect and it won’t make any difference flying one plane or the other with no expectations let down.
