I recently wrote an extensive post about how Philippine Airlines is potentially opening a new chapter for its long haul operations. The airline recently took delivery of its very first A350-1000. A plane that not only is poised to become its flagship but also opens totally new perspectives of resuming long haul expansions. Now we finally know where the new Philippine Airlines aircraft is going to fly to first.
In this post:
From Milestone Delivery to Network Strategy: Why the A350-1000 Matters for Philippine Airlines
The first A350-1000 arrived in Manila NAIA (Ninoy Aquino International Airport) on December 20th 2025. A major milestone for the southeast Asian carrier.
As I explained in the previous post, PAL had to sell off part of its A350-900 fleet to Lufthansa in the wake of 2020’s events. That was a hard blow on the carrier’s long haul network and ambitions.
However, the arrival of the first of 9 Airbus A350-1000, now allows to look towards the future with greater confidence. So with all of that said, where will Philippine Airlines first fly its Airbus A350-1000s?

Initial Regional Deployment: Preparing the Flagship Aircraft for Long-Haul Service
As is the case with many airlines, when a new aircraft type is introduced to the fleet it is first deployed on short routes. Pilots and cabin crew, has a few shorter flights to become accustomed to the aircraft and its standard operating procedures (SOPs).
With that in mind, Philippine Airlines will be flying its brand new A350-1000s on these routes:
- PR730 Manila-Bangkok on December 30th and January 2nd and 5th 2026
- PR318 Manila-Hong Kong on January 6th, 8th, 22nd, 24th, 29th, 31st 2026
- PR507/501 Manila-Singapore on January 3rd and 4th 2026
The First True Long-Haul Mission: Manila – New York JFK
The first long haul route Philippine Airlines will be sending its Airbus A350-1000 on will be one of its most important ones: Manila to New York JFK.
As the airline awaits more A350-1000 arrivals it will send out this aircraft on the 3x weekly service between Manila and New York JFK.
First PAL A350-1000 flight from Manila to New York’s JFK airport is scheduled for January 6th 2026 and will continue to be so thereafter.
