With American Airlines still trying to newly find its footing, in both the domestic and international markets its game-on between United Airlines and Delta to offer the best product and services. United Airlines is trying to raise the bar with its newest aircraft interior version which will enter service on its Boeing 787s.
United Airlines Presents Its New Polaris Studio Boeing 787 Interiors
We’ve seen many airlines give up on First Class, in many cases transforming those cabins into a Premium Business Class of sorts. United Airlines didn’t have a first class to ditch but decided to create an upgraded and enhanced version of its business class. The new product, in line with what I’ve just said above about the spreading Premium Business Class concept has taken the name United Polaris Studio. Polaris being the current top of the range United Airlines business class product.
For the time being, date of writing May 14th 2025, we’re still a bit of time from the official launch date of Polaris Studio. The airline stated it is expecting to receive the first aircraft with Polaris Studio before the end of 2025. However, that first aircraft won’t enter service earlier than 2026.
Speaking of planes, the new premium business class and business class will be fitted on Boeing 787s scheduled for delivery from the latter stages of 2025. All aircraft delivered thereafter will come with this new upgraded product.

What Will The New Polaris Studio and New Standard Polaris Offer?
For starters the new Polaris Studio seat layout is a full 25% bigger than the standard Polaris seat. These significantly larger seats will will be located, of course, in the first rows of each business class passenger cabin with 2 rows in a 1-2-1 layout. A total of 8 Polaris Studio seats will be present on each Boeing 787-9 with another 56 standard Polaris seats behind.
Each Polaris Studio seat will offer:
- Direct aisle access
- Privacy door
- An extra ottoman seat for companions
- Exclusive entrée options
- Ossetra caviar amuse-bouche service
- A huge 27-inch 4K OLED seat-back IFE screen
However, there are upcoming changes for the standard United Polaris seat hard product, among them:
- Standard Polaris seats become suites with the introduction of a privacy sliding door.
- 4K OLED 19-inch IFE seat-back entertainment screens
Also included in the international Polaris fare is access to what United describes as “six award-winning Polaris lounges across the system”.
