Cathay Pacific’s most stylish lounge reopens – The Wing First Class Lounge at HKIA

Cathay Pacific The Wing Lounge Bar for First Class passengers and oneworld Emerald status holders

The Wing, First is the peak ground product offered by Cathay Pacific at Hong Kong International Airport. Following the renovation of the Bridge business class lounge, the Hong Kong-based airline has now unveiled its new version of its first class lounge at its hub airport. And here’s what it looks like.

Renovated Cathay Pacific The Wing, First elevates First Class experience at HKIA

Cathay Pacific remains one of the few airlines around the world to still offer first class as a travel cabin. That means that it is also one of the few airlines to have first-class lounges at its hub airport.

Cathay Pacific’s lounge for first-class passengers is The Wing. The lounge had been shut down for some time during which renovations had redesigned its interior look and feel. Similarly to how the airline had renovated its business class lounge, The Pier, in 2025.

Now the wing is ready to welcome first class passengers once again. Floor space has remained pretty much unchanged, and so has the layout of the lounge, which remains exposed and connected to the terminal, ambient noise and sound, unlike the pier, which is a sealed-off lounge.

You can see how the newly renovated Cathay Pacific The Wing First Lounge is an open space and not a sealed-off lounge like The Pier is.

The redesign was assigned to the firm Foster and Partners, and it maintained a very minimalist look and feel.

Among the key amenities that make this lounge worth visiting are:

  • The 5 Cabanas featuring full-size bathtubs and day beds.
  • The Haven, which is the lounge’s a la carte dining room.
  • And of course, The Champagne Bar.

Across the lounge, the design firm used high-quality finishes which include Solnhofen stone and Carrara marble, gifting The Wing, First, a distinctive feel compared to The Pier business class lounge.

Making the most of the lounge during your visit

To maximize the enjoyment that you can take out of the Wing First Lounge, I would give you a little bit of advice.

As soon as you enter the lounge, make sure to reserve your slot at the Cabanas to ensure that you do have the chance of enjoying a full-size bath and the day beds they come with.

Make sure also to try out the new Haven à  la carte restaurant, which replaces the older, out-of-date catering solution that Cathay Pacific had in its prior launch.

Who Gets Access to The Wing, First?

This remains one of the must-visit, if you have the status and possibility, lounges in the world.

It does remain rather exclusive, however, as you might imagine for a first-class lounge.

That means that only passengers travelling in first class on Cathay Pacific or with an extremely elite frequent flyer status can get in. In order to have access by your frequent flyer status, you have to hold a Oneworld Emerald tier membership.
