JetBlue Opens BlueHouse Lounge at New York JFK Terminal 5

JetBlue’s first-ever airport lounge marks a shift toward premium travel

It's no secret that the LCC (low cost carrier) business model is suffering its deepest crisis in the US since its invention. Many airlines have been shifting towards catering the still strong demand for premium travel. Among the airlines JetBlue with its JetForward strategy. The latest move from this plan is the opening of the airline's first ever lounge at New York's JFK airport.

JetBlue Opens BlueHouse Lounge at JFK Terminal 5

The BlueHouse is the name chosen for its lounges by JetBlue. The first BlueHouse lounge is soon to open for business in the airline's home of New York City.

December 18th 2025 will be the day (from 5 AM) JetBlue opens, and operates thereafter, its first premium customer lounge. The New York JFK JetBlue lounge will be located at Terminal 5.

What Is BlueHouse? JetBlue’s New Lounge Concept

Simply put its JetBlue's take on the premium airport lounge. This is the first of the airline's lounges planned, as we'll delve into later.

The BlueHouse lounge revolves around one key concept: “home away from home”. It is decorated and structured to pass on to passengers vibes of a warm New York City apartment creating the ambiance of a residential living space.

To make the New York all the more evident the lounge features art pieces curated by Statement Of and mural art by Artists for Humanity featuring a constellations of JetBlue destinations in the style of Grand Central Terminal’s iconic ceiling.

The JetBlue BlueHouse lounge at New York JFK T5 spans over 2 floors covering a total 9,000 square feet in floorspace.

Food, Drinks and Amenities Inside BlueHouse

Of course food and amenities are a central piece to any premium lounge experience. Catering is curated and provided by Union Square Events with an offering inspired by the city of New York. Offered in JetBlue's first BlueHouse lounge, among other classic foods, will be specialties such as:

  • Bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches with New York cheddar in the morning
  • Pastrami on rye or chicken Caesar wraps later in the day.

In the beverage department, local beers and signature cocktails will take the centerstage along with barista-made espresso drinks as part of a partnership with Joe Coffee.

In terms of amenities, you can expect to find what is standard among most lounges these days, such as:

  • High speed internet connectivity.
  • Power outlets by every seat to stay productive.
  • Quiet zones to relax or focus before a flight.

However, the game area promises to have a distinctive JetBlue feel. Here there'll be JetBlue branded cards, chess, checkers, a children toy area and a Photo Booth.

Who Can Access the BlueHouse Lounge

As with every lounge there are mainly three ways to get access to the new JetBlue New York JFK lounge:

  • Status
  • Travel class
  • Holding the airline's branded Credit Card
CustomerAccessGuests
Mosaic 4 MembersFree1 Free
39$ per additional
JetBlue Premier CardholdersFree1 Free
39$ per additional
Transatlantic Mint CustomersFree39$ per guest

Mosaic 4 is the highest tier in JetBlue's TrueBlue loyalty program. However, these travelers too have to have a same day booking on a JetBlue flight on a Blue Fare to get access.

Even for Mint class travelers there are some criteria to be met to get access to the BlueHouse lounge at New York JFK. That is having to be booked on a transatlantic flight. Domestic Mint travelers won't get access if not meeting the status or cardholder criteria.

On the cardholder's topic, you can get access to the lounge by holding the JetBlue Premier World Elite Mastercard. That is the card the airline released in collaboration with Barclays earlier this year. You can read the details about it in this post of mine.

Why BlueHouse Matters for JetBlue’s Strategy

This is a major shift in the airline's business model and strategy. JetBlue is moving further away from the low-cost model trying to appeal more to the premium segment and possibly business travelers.

Furthermore, this is not a one-off project. JetBlue is ready to open another BlueHouse lounge in its other key market Boston Logan International airport. That lounge will open in Boston (BOS) Terminal C in 2026.
