The Airlines in Asia and Their Peculiarities
Asia is home to some of the most interesting airlines in the world. The market is home to a huge number of carriers both:
- Full service airlines
- Low cost carriers
The full service airlines in the region have different core businesses depending on their geographical position. Southeast Asian airlines have become over the decades particularly specialised in connecting Europe to tourist destinations in the region along with Australia and New Zealand.
These are airlines such as:
- Singapore Airlines
- Thai Airways
- Cathay Pacific
- Malaysian Airlines
On the other hand airlines located in the far east have become specialised in connecting east Asia to the financial maga cities in Japan Korea and China to the US and Europe. These are airlines such as:
- Korean Air
- JAL
- ANA
- Air China
- China Southern
- China Eastern
- China Airlines
And of course there is the Indian subcontinent. The dynamics of this region are quite unique. The aviation market is growing constantly and will probably be growing heavily and constantly for the coming decades in India. The country has both a huge domestic market along with great demand for international travel to regions with large expat communities such as:
- Europe
- United States
- Canada
- Australia
What India has been missing in the past years is an airline capable of taking over a significant chunk of incoming international travel towards India. That should be all about to change with the ambitious plan to power up Air India and merge it with the other country’s full service airline Vistara.
