It was a great opening day of the Dubai Air Show for Boeing. The American manufacturer stole the spotlight with a flurry of orders by many middle eastern and Arab carriers. Among these the smallest order of them all is the one placed by Royal Air Maroc. Let’s take a look at what the agreement between RAM and Boeing is all about.
The Royal Air Maroc Boeing 787 Order
To wrap things up on the Boeing side for this first, very busy, day of the Dubai Air Show let’s talk about the Royal Air Maroc 787 order.
This was the smallest order placed in the Boeing order book in this opening day of the DAS 2023. The flag carrier of Morocco placed an order for 2 Boeing 787-9 jets.
RAM (Royal Air Maroc) already operates a fleet of 9 Dreamliners which includes:
- 5 Boeing 787-8
- 4 Boeing 787-9
Eventually, with the 2 planes ordered delivered to RAM, the 787-9 will be the most present Dreamliner varian present in the fleet.
Expanding Operations
The new jets most likely will help further fuel network expansions for the airline rather than replace planes. The oldest 787 in the RAM fleet is currently only 8 years old and should ensure still quite a few more years of service. It’ll be interesting then to see where and when the airline’s network will grow and in which area of the globe they will chose to expand.
What About the Interiors?
The cabin interiors of the newer Boeing 787-9 present in the RAM fleet are not that old nor are they particularly outdated. So it is quite possible to see the same cabin interiors on these new Dreamliners ordered at the Dubai Air Show.
