Special liveries are a fantastic tool in the arsenal of airlines. They bring much media attention when launched and when flying they promote a special message in all airports visited. Some of the most creative and eye-catching special liveries are without a doubt brought to us from Asia. Some airlines just go all out on creativity when painting their planes. Just think of, Flying Honu and Pokemon liveries with ANA or the Hello Kitty EVA Air ones just as some most recent examples. AirAsia though is the most recent of all. The airline has just presented its newest special livery celebrating one of its most important destinations and markets.
AirAsia New Special Livery Celebrating Singapore
The theme of the latest AirAsia livery one of the airline’s most important and strategic destinations and markets: Singapore. The airline collaborated with the Singapore Tourism Board (STB just one letter away from a bad acronym) to paint one of its Airbus A320 jets.
The goal is to promote Singapore both in the media coverage the livery is having upon launch and as the aircraft flies to various destinations. One of the tourist peak seasons for southeast Asia is just around the corner as we head towards the end of the year. Therefore, it is the right time to promote a destination and try to attract tourists and visitors.
The name of the new livery? Well, it’s very straight forward: “Love Singapore”. The aircraft in question is a 2010-built Airbus A320-200 which has been with the airline since day one. For the avgeeks, registration number is 9M-AHZ.
What Does the Special “Love Singapore” Livery Depict?
The livery has some of Singapore’s most iconic attractions and characters. Among these are the Gardens by the Bay, Singapore Zoo, and Bird Paradise. Happily showing up in this very colorful paint scheme is Merli, Singapore’s energetic and outgoing brand character inspired by the Merlion.
Above all these character and figures is large heart followed by Singapore in bright purple. A combination of colors that is guaranteed to catch many travellers attention at every airport it visits.
