Cathay Pacific Returns to Dhaka as it Ramps Up its Flights

This was the week of the return to Bangladesh of Hong Kong’s Cathay Pacific. The airline has resumed its passenger scheduled flights to and from Dhaka’s International Airport. Let’s take a closer look to the flight operations and other related insights.

About The Cathay Pacific New Hong Kong Dhaka Flight

As mentioned this is a return to Bangladesh for Hong Kong’s home airline. The carrier used to fly a passenger route from and to Dhaka before the pandemic.

Also Cathay Pacific‘s cargo division, even in the post covid era, already operates a 3 times weekly connection to the country’s capital. So in short it’s not a completely new route that has been setup.

Taking a closer look at the schedule of the flight this will vary in the coming months. Here’s how:

In December 2022

  • Flight CX667 every Saturday will depart Hong Kong (HKG) at 19:35 and arrive into Dhaka (DAC) at 22:00.
  • The return flight CX662 will depart Dhaka (DAC) at 23:10 and arrive into Hong Kong (HKG) at 04:45 the next morning.

In January 2023

  • Flight CX667 every Thursday and Saturday will depart Hong Kong (HKG) at 20:05 and arrive into Dhaka (DAC) at 22:30.
  • The return flight CX662 will depart Dhaka (DAC) at 23:40 and arrive into Hong Kong (HKG) at 05:15 the next morning.

From January 2023 Onwards

  • Flight CX667 every Thursday and Saturday will depart Hong Kong (HKG) at 21:30 and arrive into Dhaka (DAC) at 23:55.
  • The return flight CX662 every Friday and Sunday will depart Dhaka (DAC) at 01:05AM and arrive into Hong Kong (HKG) at 06:40 the next morning.

Cathay Pacific will operate the route using one of its Airbus A330-300. The estimated flying time for the route is 4 hours 25 minutes on the outbound route and 3 hours 35 minutes on the inbound sector.

Boosting Both Passengers And Cargo Capacity

The return of flight CX667 will serve the airline two purposes. The first it’ll allow passengers to transit in Hong Kong to reach Bangladesh without leaving the Cathay network. A route particularly attractive for customers starting their trip in Australia and New Zealand.

The second purpose is that it’ll further increase the airline’s cargo capacity on this route. The A330 flying the route will have spare belly capacity to accomodate goods moving between Hong Kong and Dhaka, complementing of course the already existing 3 weekly cargo flights.
