About The Returning Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Johannesburg Flight
Although direct flights between Hong Kong and Johannesburg will resume in 2023, passengers will still have to wait before being able to fly the route.
Flights are scheduled to commence operations starting August 2nd 2023. Well into the second half of the year. Until then the only option is flying the route via a third airport and connecting onwards.
Starting August 2nd though, the Hong Kong (HKG) Johannesburg (JNB) will have a 3 times weekly frequency. The HKG-JNB flight number CX748 will follow this schedule:
- Flight CX749 will depart Hong Kong (HKG) every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday at 00:40 arriving into Johannesburg (JNB) at 07:35.
- The return flight CX748 will depart Johannesburg (JNB) every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday at 11:20 arriving into Hong Kong (HKG) at 06:00 the next morning.
The Plane Chosen For the Flight
Cathay Pacific will be deploying its long range Airbus A350-900s on this re-opening Hong Kong-Johannesburg flight. These planes are extremely fuel efficient, helping the airline maintain profitability, while spacious and comfortable for passengers.
The CX A350-900s are fitted with a 3 class configurations with a total of 280 seats offering passengers:
- 38 Business Class seats
- 28 Premium Economy Seats
- 214 Economy Class seats
