Malaysia Airlines Returns to Paris in Summer 2025

If you grew up in the ’80 or ’90s (as is my case) and travelled regularly in or via Asia to other regions, such as Australia, Malaysia Airlines would have been one of the most recurring travel options. The Malaysian flag carrier was a huge name in civil aviation well into the 2000s. Then came the decline. The airline struggled to find its place on the market against aggressive competitors from the middle east and in other Asian countries. This new order eroded the airline’s market share and profits, forcing it ti massively restructure its operations to become more sustainable and most importantly profitable. However, MAS is now slowly starting to return to markets it long abandoned, such as Paris.

Malaysia Airlines Makes its Return in Paris in 2025

Paris is a strategic destination for many airlines. The French capital offers airlines the possibility of serving two distinct and lucrative segments of clientele.

On the one hand, particularly during the summer months, you have the influx of tourists from across Asia and Australia. While on the other hand Paris remains one of the largest and most important business and financial hubs in all of Europe. Therefore, serving Paris means that, potentially, you can cater to both these very lucrative crowds.

Also, Malaysia Airlines would represent the only southeast Asian OneWorld alliance airline serving the Parisian airport. Therefore, becoming the prime option of travel for those looking to travel onwards from KL to secondary Malaysian cities.

MAS’s new Paris flight will fly under the number MH21 and will commence covering the route on March 22nd 2025. For the first week only there will be 4 weekly flights, starting March 29th they will jump up to 7 making it a daily service from KUL to CDG.

MAS Betting MH21 KUL to CDG Will Be a Hit with Daily Schedule

Clearly the airline feels quite confident it can fill up its planes during the 2025 summer months. As mentioned above, just one week into the new flight schedule it will become a daily service. That translates to 286 seats every day offered by Malaysia Airlines on the Paris to Kuala Lumpur flight sector.

MH21 Served by the Airline’s Flagship: The Airbus A350-900

Malaysia Airlines will be sending out on this new flight its best aircraft and configuration. The aircraft will be the Airbus A350-900 which at the moment is MAS’s most advanced and newest plane in the fleet.

These planes with Malaysia Airlines come in two configurations. One featuring the so-called Business Suite and the other without. These suites look a lot like a first class product but are being used as a premium Business class, much like Oman Air has started doing with its own.

The configurations of the A350-900s to be used on the Kuala Lumpur to Paris sector features:

  • 4 Business Suites in a 1-2-1 layout
  • 35 Business Class seats in an alternating 1-2-1 and 1-2-2 layout
  • 247 Economy Class seats in a standard 3-3-3 layout

MAS doesn’t offer Premium Economy, however, of those 247 Economy Class seats 27, between rows 12 and 15, offer extra leg room and are sold at a premium.
