Jetstar To Base A321neo in Perth and Launch 3 New Routes

Jetstar has been taking delivery of the new generation A321neo jets from Airbus from some time now. Specifically the Australian flag carrier has been receiving the A321LR. This plane type doesn’t posses the range of the XLR version currently undergoing certification but opens up many doors for an airline such as Jetstar. Finally we are seeing some major strategic moves by the airline involving the aircraft and new routes soon to start on it. Here’s all you need to know about Jetstar’s next moves.

Jetstar’s New Pilot Base in Perth

First let’s kick things off talking about Jetstar’s plans for a pilot base in Perth. The carrier will be opening a new pilot base in the capital of West Australia with 60 pilots at it. These 60 pilots will be necessary to man the 4 Airbus A321LR the airline will be stationing at the airport.

This is quite a significant move as it will enable the LCC to open a significant number of new international routes to southeast Asia. This is possible thanks to the extended range the A321LR offers. Therefore in 2024, if all goes to plan, will see Perth receive a massive boost in international seats specifically to the destinations Jetstar intends to start serving.

Where Will JQ Fly The A321neo From Perth in 2024?

The plan is to start flights to 3 new international destinations from Perth in 2024. This will cater to what the airline has identified as a growing demand for cheap international flights from West Australia.

The A321LR will be starting in 2024 flights from Perth to:

  • Bangkok (BKK)
  • Singapore (SIN)
  • Phuket (HKT)

We still don’t know much about what the schedule of these flights will look like as they are still pending approval from the authorities. However what we do know is what the configuration of the planes that will be serving route is. Jetstar has fitted its A321LR with a very high density 1 class cabin featuring 232 seats in a 3-3 layout. All seats are produced by Recaro and are the BL3710 model.

So if you were looking for a lie flat option on these sectors, well maybe Jetstar isn’t the right match for you. However if you are willing to put up with a 28.3 inch seat pitch for several hours in exchange for a cheap fare then Jetstar are your guys.
