Rex, or Regional Express, is an Australian carrier. Its core business is operating regional flights to the Australian outback, which are a lifeline for those communities. For its regional flights it operates a fleet of tiny 33 seater SAAB 340 turboprop planes. Along side that operation the airline also tried to compete with the likes of Virgin Australia and Qantas on some mainline routes utilising Boeing 737s. However the airline halted 737 operations in July 2024 as a result of financial issues as the airline entered voluntary administration.
