Austrian Airlines, part of the Lufthansa Group and Star Alliance, is all set to significantly expand its route network in 2023. The Austrian flag carrier on the wake of a very positive 2022 is looking to increase both destinations and flights in the coming year. Here are all the details about it.
The 6 New European Austrian Airlines Routes For Summer 2023
The new routes will mostly expand Austrian Airlines presence in the European market trying to intercept the increased demand for travel. Destinations to be launched starting summer 2023 include:
- Porto (Portugal)
- Marseille (France)
- Billund Tivat (Denmark)
- Palermo (Italy)
- Vilnius (Lithuania)
- Tromsø (Norway)
Austrian’s medium haul fleet composed mainly by Airbus A320s will operate these new European flights. Over the past few months the airline has received 2 brand new A320neo aircrafts and plans to receive others which will replace older aging plane and expand the current fleet. This will allow the airline to expand the number of routes and flights flown in the coming summer season.
The Other New Route by Austrian
The other new route that Austrian Airlines is preparing to start operating starting summer 2023, is Los Angeles. Flight number will be OS081. LAX will be served with a non stop flight directly from the Austrian capital Vienna.
In this case the flight will be served by the much smaller long haul fleet. One of the 6 Boeing 777-200s will fly the 12 hour 20 minute route between the 2 cities.
The 777s will feature a 3 class configuration. Upon booking you can choose to travel with Austrian in:
- Economy
- Premium Economy
- Business Class
However if instead you are looking for a first class trip from LAX to Vienna you’ll need to put up with a stop in another airport.
