Although the summer is well behind us in Europe airlines are still ramping up operations in order to recover all lost ground during the last 3 and a half years. Among the most active airlines is of course one of the continent’s largest carriers, British Airways. The British flag carrier has just further expanded it operations to one of its main destinations in the African continent. BA has started its latest flight BA2067 from London Gatwick to Accra, Ghana. Here are the details of the new service.
A New Flight But an Increase For British Airways From London to Accra
This is an all new flight for British Airways who’s never before flown on the London Gatwick (LGW) to Accra (ACC) flight. The service’s inaugural flight has been honoured with a very special welcome in Ghana, as is usual for commencing services.
However it is not a completely new service for flights from London to Accra (ACC). This is more of an operations power up for BA as it already operates a daily connection from its main hub in London Heathrow airport.
The new service aims to both increase capacity and seats available between Accra (ACC) and serve the south London communities, allowing two travel conveniently from a nearer less congested airport.
A side note, London Gatwick (LGW) might have also been the only option for British Airways to add this flight to the network knowing how rare and complicated it has become to get flight slots in Heathrow (LHR).
The Operations and Schedule of Flight BA2067
The flight will have variable schedule in the coming months. Initially from the launch date, October 30th 2023, it’ll cover the London to Accra route 3 times per week to the increase services to 4 times weekly in ahead of the 2024 summer season.
As of October 2023 flights are available every:
- Tuesday
- Thursday
- Sunday
As for the schedule of British Airways flight BA2067 from London Gatwick to Accra, here’s how it’ll operate:

Not The Newest Plane For British Airways New London to Accra Flight
While the London Heathrow to Accra flight is served using the most modern and newest plane in the British Airways fleet, this isn’t the case with the London Gatwick to Accra flight. So you’ll have to decide if flying on a more comfortable plane or travelling through a less congested airport is more important.
That’s because while BA flies from Heathrow using the Airbus A350 with its newest hard products onboard, from Gatwick it is initially flying the Boeing 777-200ER. Most of BA’s 777-200ERs are well past 20 years of age and do not offer the latest cabin version onboard. For instance the plane that flew the inaugural flight is over 24 years old (G-VIIU), delivered to BA on May the 28th 1999.
This isn’t all that much an issue in economy, where you get a 3-3-3 layout on both newer and older layouts, but in business class. In the premium cabin you get a quite dense configuration with 8 seats abreast alternating in forward and aft facing.
So take that into consideration too when booking your flight to Ghana from London. Here’s though the full configuration of these Boeing 777-200ERs:
- 32 Business Class Seats
- 52 Premium Economy Recaro PL3710 Seats
- 252 Economy Recaro CL3710 Seats
