Iberia, part of the IAG group, will be increasing its presence in the United States in 2023. The Spanish flag carrier will in fact increase its frequency of flights to one of the US’ main airline hubs. Let’s take a closer look at what the news is all about.
About the Iberia Madrid Dallas Flight
Initially Iberia commenced operations to Dallas (DFW) from Madrid’s Barajas Airport with the intention of covering the route exclusively during the 2022 summer season.
This was not the case though as the airline continued to operate the flight into the fall and winter of 2022. As of now and until June 2023 the flight will connect the two cities with a 3 times weekly frequency.
Starting June 2023 though the frequency of the flight will change. It will pass from a 3 times weekly flight to a daily connection. The Iberia A330s, are currently, and will fly the route. This aircraft type features a 3 class configuration with:
- Business Class
- Premium Economy
- Economy Class
Why Dallas Is Strategic For Iberia?
First of all the southern state of Texas allows Iberia to serve the large hispanic community. However Texas is becoming more and more a corporate and tech hub in the United States.
But Dallas is particularly important as it is American Airlines’ hub. American Airlines is one of Iberia’s OneWorld alliance partners, specifically the main one in the US.
This means that passengers flying in on Iberia flights from Madrid will be able to connect onwards to destinations in the American Airlines’ domestic destination network.
This boost of flights to Dallas brings available seats and flights to a higher level than those in 2019, the year before the global pandemic.
The Other US Destination in 2023
Along with Dallas, Iberia will fly to a number of other American cities with multiple flights per week such as:
- Los Angeles – 3 times a week
- New York – 12 or 14 times a week (depending on the month)
- Miami – 2 daily flights
- Chicago – 5 to 7 times a week (depending on the month)
- Boston – 3 to 5 times a week (depending on the month)
- Washington – starting March 2023 (only for the summer 2023 season)
- San Francisco – starting May 2023 (only for the summer 2023 season)
