ITA Airways Expands in Asia New Winter Flights to Bangkok on the Way

ITA Airways in its few years of operations has focused on the highest yield market. The priority for the airline was to establish itself as a viable option of incoming passengers from North America, Argentina, and Tokyo. Now though it is also eyeing outgoing tourists from Italy to Thailand. ITA has just announced it will commence operations on the Rome Fiumicino Bangkok Suvarnabhumi route in late 2024.

New ITA Airways AZ758 Rome Bangkok Flight Coming Late 2024

Rome Bangkok flights are almost a no-brainer for an Italian airline. Thailand is such a popular destination in the winter season for Italians looking to enjoy the warm weather in the southeast Asian country. I remember departing Rome, Australia-bound with a stopover in Bangkok, on extremely crowded Thai Airways flight. Thai used to send 747 after 747 to Rome in the winter season with very few empty seats. I must say I also remember them not bein the most modern or looked after planes too, unfortunately. As late as 2009 I still got the experience the retro feel of watching a movie on a common screen. Isn’t that something from another era?

However, I digress. Going back to ITA’s new flight it just makes heaps of sense for the Italian carrier to operate such a route. It makes even more sense if you consider that Thai Airways still hasn’t resumed its flights from Rome to Bangkok. Therefore, ITA Airways will be the only carrier flying non-stop from FCO to BKK.

AZ758 will be the third Asian destination in ITA Airways’ network. With the other two being:

  • Delhi
  • Tokyo Haneda

L’Orario e l’Aereo per il Volo AZ758 Roma Bangkok ITA

ITA has planned to operate 5 weekly flights on the Rome to Bangkok flight route. Proof of how ITA Airways is bullish about being able to intercept a good chunk of the market share. The first flight will take off as AZ758 on November 16th 2024 and the last on March 27th 2025. My take is that it won’t be confirmed for the summer time, as passenger volumes drastically decrease on this route, but AZ758 will make a return to the route network for the 2025 winter season.

The 5 weekly services will take place on:

  • Monday
  • Wednesday
  • Thursday
  • Saturday
  • Sunday

Let’s wrap it all up by touching on the aircraft type. Unlike Thai Airways in the 2000s, ITA will be using on this route some of its newest planes. The italian carrier has decided to use its Airbus A330neo planes. They feature very modern interiors with 3 classes of travel featuring:

  • 30 Business Class flat-bed seats
  • 24 Premium Economy seats
  • 237 Economy Class seats
