Jet2 Adds 2 Sunny Italian Flights to 2025 Summer Schedule

Southern Italy in the summertime is the place to be. Gorgeous blue skies, warm weather, beautiful sandy beaches, historical sites to visit, what is there not to love (not biased at all as an Italian)? Well seems like I’m not the only one with that opinion. Many holidaymakers from northern Europe also think similarly. That’s exactly why Jet2 will launch 2 more flights to sunny southern Italy in summer 2025.

Jet 2 Adding 2 Italian Flights to Salerno in 2025

Salerno might not ring a bell to most people living outside of Italy. But the full name of the airport might put more context around that. The airport is the Amalfi Coast Salerno Airport, therefore serving the tourist region which attracts millions of travellers every single year.

The airport just recently got a major infrastructure upgrade allowing it to welcome international medium-haul services operated by narrow-body planes. Jet2 is among the airlines that will be taking advantage of the potentiated infrastructure to launch some flights of its own.

Jet2 will be offering weekly flights with both of its brands Jet2.com and Jet2Holidays to Salerno. Flights will operate services to southern Italy from May 26th to September 29th. Specifically, from 2 British airports:

  • Manchester
  • Birmingham (operated by Jet2Holidays)

Although the first flights won’t takeoff for serveral months it’s quite easy to foresee which planes will fly these new services. It’ll be a Boeing 737, either classic or NG version, for the Manchester flight and an Airbus A321 for the Birmingham service. Both aircraft types feature a standard 3-3 seat layout in a one class config.

A New Airport That Fits Perfectly into Jet2’s Network

Salerno’s Amalfi Coast airport is a perfect match for the Jet2. The airport is just a few kilometers away from some of the most beautiful beaches and scenaries in all of Italy. Exactly the kind of destination Jet2’s habitual customers look out for. The airport is also the most recent in Italy to receive international status. The runway was completely rebuilt from scratch allowing larger planes to land. However, the airport still has development plans for the upcoming years. A new terminal building will be completed by 2026 allowing to handle passengers more effectively and effeciently. It will feature two boarding areas and a baggage claim hall.

Therefore, when completed, the new terminal will help lessen the load in summer months from Naples’ Capodichino international airport.
