Scandinavian airline SAS is preparing for a comeback to Tokyo Haneda Airport. With passenger and tourist figures picking up across the globe we see more and more flights connecting Europe to the far east returning. In the case of SAS the news of the month is that among other flights the airline will return to fly to Japan from its hub in Copenhagen.
About SAS Flight SK983 From Copenhagen to Tokyo
Summer 2023 will see the return of SAS to Japan’s capital of Tokyo. This is great news for tourist and people like me who’s family is split between Europe and Asia. Flight will resume regular operations from June 2023, however there are some extra dates which I’ll talk about later.
Flight SK983 (return flight number is SK984) will connect 3 times per week the airports of Copenhagen and Tokyo Haneda. The flight will fly according to this schedule:
- Every Sunday Wednesday and Friday flight SK983 will depart Copenhagen (CPH) at 11:20 arriving into Tokyo Haneda (HND) at 07:55 the next morning.
- The return flight SK984 will depart Tokyo Haneda (HND) every Monday Thursday and Saturday at 11:45 with arrival into Copenhagen (CPH) at 18:40.
The outbound flight time is estimated in 13 hours 35 minutes while the return flight will clock in at 13 hours 55 minutes. Flight times of connections between Europe and Asia have dramatically increased as a result of the closing of Russian airspace.
The Aircraft for SAS Flight SK983
SAS will operate the flight using its modern Airbus A350-900. The airline has just a handful of these extremely comfortable jetliners which it received recently. Therefore the average age of these planes is also inevitably very young, only 2.5 years. At the moment SAS owns 3 Airbus A350-900 with registration:
- SE-RSD
- SE-RSE
- SE-RSF
These planes feature a 3 class configuration with:
- 40 Flat Bed Business Class seats
- 32 Premium Economy seats (renamed SAS Plus)
- 228 Economy Class seats (renamed SAS Go)
The Extra SAS Copenhagen Tokyo Flights
There will be however some extra SAS flights operating before the month of June. The Scandinavian airline will be flying the same route in April. This is done to intercept and accomodate travellers during the easter festivities in Europe. 10 return CPH-HND flights are scheduled for the month of April before a hiatus in May.
Following the May halt in SAS Copenhagen to Tokyo connections in May, flights will resume for the duration of the summer season starting June, as mentioned before.
