SAS was prominent in the aviation news over the past few months as the airline has secured a substantial investment by Air France-KLM which will eventually lead to the Scandinavian carrier leaving Star Alliance for SkyTeam. However today we’re going back to flights and flight operations as Scandinavian has announced its 2024 summer schedule. Let’s take a look at what the northern European airline has in store.
More SAS Flights to New York
SAS has been extracting the full potential out of the Airbus A321LR. The airline has rapidly fallen in love with this aircraft as it fits perfectly into its operations.
The long range single aisle plane allows smaller airlines, with not as high demand, to offer greater flexibility in flight offering to its customers.
SAS launched just months ago its first service from Copenhagen to New York’s JFK international airport. That flight was and is currently operated using the versatile Airbus A321LR. In 2024, starting March 31st, a second flight on the same route with the same aircraft will be launched.
The lower operational costs of the A321LR, compared to a wide body plane, allow SAS to operate 2 daily flights. That also translates to more timing options to travel at.
These 2 flights will work hand in hand with the other wide body service from Copenhagen to Newark Liberty Airport on the A350.
Boosting Boston and Toronto Services
Boston and Toronto will also be seeing more SAS services in 2024. Scandinavian has been seeing strong demand towards these destinations and is upping its services from March 31st 2024 by:
- Making Copenhagen to Boston flights a daily service aboard the Airbus A350-900.
- Toronto will become a 4 times weekly service with a new departure and arrival time allowing more convenient European onwards connections. This flight is also served by an A321neo.
Asian Holiday Flights For Easter and Summer 2024
Finally SAS is also eyeing to cater more to holiday travellers looking to explore destinations in Asia:
- The Copenhagen to Bangkok flight will be extended until April 20th so to intercept people travelling during the Easter holidays.
- Starting April 25th the already active flights from Copenhagen to Tokyo and Shanghai will power up from 3 to 4 weekly flights.
