SAS Starts Third US West Coast Destination in 2025

September 1st was the beginning of a new chapter for the Scandinavian carrier SAS. The carrier, a Star Alliance founding member, made the historical move over to SkyTeam following Air France-KLM investing in the airline and taking it out of financial difficulties. Now with all that set and done, the airline is looking to the future. Particularly the focus has shifted over to planning next year’s summer schedule. The latest scheduling news takes us to talk about the latest route announcement by SAS. Scandinavian Airlines will launch direct and non-stop flights to Seattle Tacoma International Airport.

SAS Copenhagen to Seattle Flight SK937’s Connection Optimised Operations

The single most important long-haul market for SAS is, without a doubt, the United States of America. That is particularly the case after the closure of Russian airspace that made many Asian destinations significantly less profitable. So much so that Scandinavian’s new service from Copenhagen to Seattle, SK937, will become the airline’s 11th North American destination.

The new service, the airline stated, is optimised to allow passengers to transfer to the airline’s European network. I will add this flight make quite a bit of sense eve on the other end of the route. Seattle is home to Alaska Airlines with which SAS has a standing codeshare agreement. That means that quite simple and straight forward onward travel is possibile even at Seattle-Tacoma international airport towards other smaller destinations on the west coast or Alaska.

Scandinavian Airlines SK937 Copenhagen to Seattle Flight Details

First things first, the flight will start serving the Copenhagen to Seattle route starting May 21st 2025. From that day moving forward the airline has SK937 scheduled to operate 5 times per week, with services every:

  • Monday
  • Wednesday
  • Friday
  • Saturday
  • Sunday

Thanks to the flight time and time difference, the schedule of this flight is quite convenient for passengers travelling in both directions. The arrival time in Seattle is a comfortable 13:50 allowing to get settled in and have a good night of rest to get quickly rid of jetlag’s effects. Same goes on the return sector where arrival time is 10:30 allowing to transfer easily to connecting flights alternatively get some sightseeing or business done.

As for the aircraft, SK937 will be operated by the airline’s most advanced wide body: the Airbus A350-900. These planes come in a 3 class cabin configuration, offering:

  • 40 Business Class Seats
  • 32 Premium Economy Seats
  • 228 Economy Class Seats

Some Seat Choosing Tips For all Classes on SAS Flight SK937

Keeping in mind that the plane chosen for this new service is a SAS Airbus A350-900 here are some tips to choose the most comfortable seats. Let’s go through them, class by class.

Business Class it comes in a 1-2-1 layout with all seats having direct aisle access. However, there are a couple of things to point out. First of all, Scandinavian Airlines business class seats don’t have sliding privacy partitions making them a suite. They also alternate, on the window side, with even rows closer to the window and odds closer to the aisle. Therefore, for maximum privacy and better views I would try to get an even numbered row if possibile. Also, business class is divided in a main cabin of 8 rows and a smaller one of 2 rows. That smaller one, made up of rows 9 and 10 will be much quieter and private during the flight. Do keep in mind though that during boarding all Economy and Premium Economy passengers will pass by.

Economy Class comes in the standard 3-3-3 layout accommodating 228 passengers. However, there are 3 seats which it is worth keeping a keen eye out for. Seats 31C, 31G and 41A despite not being an emergency exit row offer unlimited leg room. That is because there is no seat in front of them. Downside, you won’t be able to store any bags on the floor as there isn’t a seat in front.

Premium Economy comes in a 2-4-2 layout and all seats are equal. I would stay away from the central 2 seats and opt for an aisle seat or a window one (that last one would be the avgeek’s choice).

Promo Prices and Miles for SK937 Flight

Prices, looking at services originating in Europe are extremely low today, September 18th 2024. We’re looking at a fare, which includes a checked bag, of just around 640 Euro for a return trip.

Also, with SAS now part of SkyTeam the flight can be booked through the loyalty program of all other airlines in this alliance. On the US side that means Delta and on the European side mainly Air France-KLM.
