Airlines continue to see strong demand for air travel across the globe even as the winter peak and Christmas festivities draw closer. Although not as strong and important as the long summer season this period gives a nice bump to airline’s balance sheet. Leading just before the lead up to Christmas one of the world’s biggest carriers, Turkish Airlines, has seen some strong performance. Here are the numbers the carrier achieved in November 2023.
Turkish Airlines Carried 6 Million Passengers in November 2023
Numbers looked very healthy for the Turkish national carrier in November as they have been looking for the entire year. All main performance indicators are up compared to last year. So let’s take a closer look at what results were reached.
November 2023 saw Turkish carry 6 million passengers, combining both international and domestic traffic. That translates into a 4.1% increase compared to the same month of 2022.
On the international flights load factors averaged out at 79.9% while they were slightly higher for domestic services at 84.9%.
International to international passengers, in other words international transit passengers, clocked in at 2.2 million. That is an 11.2% increase comparing when compared to November 2022.
2023 Looking to Be a Very Strong Year
With not much left to go, 2023 look as it’ll be a very strong year for Turkish Airlines. The carrier has so far, as of November 30th 2023, carried 77.3 million passengers. That is a significant increase compared to 2022, more precisely a 16.6% increase, with international to international passengers increasing from 21.2 million to 27.2 million with a 27.9% increase. Overall 2023 load factor is currently sitting at 82.8% up by 2.3 points from last year.
Looking at the load factor split by Domestic and International it reads:
- International load factor at 82.6%
- Domestic load factor at 84.8%
Turkish Confirms The Long Haul Trend
Turkish further confirms how 2023 has been the year in which long haul has made a full recovery. The fact that passenger figures on the international transit part of the business have dramatically increased confirms this.
