Virgin Atlantic is quite a quirky and unique airline. You could say it reflects the identity of its founder Sir Richard Branson. The airline is not the most profitable operations as it rarely turns one, but it is an important asset for Delta that owns a major stake in the British carrier. The airline's main market is transatlantic flights. However it also suffers due to the absence of a European network. Not having one means the airline can't rely on feeder traffic to fill the long-haul sectors relying instead on locally originating traffic only.
