Virgin Atlantic To Resume Flights to Dubai in Winter 2023

Virgin Atlantic, the latest member to join the Skyteam alliance, is gradually bringing back to its schedule flights that were brought to a halt due to covid. After making its return in mainland China this year Virgin Atlantic will also be returning to Dubai. So let’s take a closer look at how the new Virgin Atlantic London Heathrow Dubai VS400 flight will work.

Virgin Atlantic Returns to Dubai in Winter 2023

Virgin Atlantic as all other airlines around the world are trying to capitalise on the strong demand for air travel. Demand didn’t die off in 2022 and it actually spilt over to the new year. This drove many airlines to continue re-activating services that had been interrupted due to the pandemic.

One of these routes is flight VS400. This is Virgin Atlantic’s flight from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to Dubai International Airport (DXB). The route is one of the busiest in the world with Emirates serving just to Heathrow alone 6 daily Airbus A380 Flights and British Airways adding and additional 19 weekly flights. And from winter 2023, Virgin Atlantic will be adding its own service.

The flight will be, at least initially, a 4 times per week service throughout the winter season. Traffic figures will determine if the British airline will make flight VS400 a year round service. Flights will start flying the route on October 28th 2023 with services every:

  • Tuesday
  • Wednesday
  • Friday
  • Sunday

Virgin Atlantic Boeing 787-9 Flying Above

The Plane For the Flight

Virgin Atlantic flight VS400 London to Dubai will be served by one of the airline’s state of the art Boeing 787-9s. The airline currently has 17 of the type in its fleet. The Virgin Atlantic Boeing 787-9 feature a 3 class configuration with a not so private business class. More precisely here’s what the VS 787-9 cabin features:

  • 31 Business Class flat bed seats (the Zodiac UCS3) in a 1-1-1 configuration.
  • 35 Premium Economy Class seats in a 2-3-2 configuration
  • 192 Economy Class seats in a standard 3-3-3 configuration

The issue with the business class seat not being all that private affects mainly G and K seats, the center and window seats on the right hand side of the plane. These seats face each other and the dense configuration might give a feeling of lacking privacy. In my opinion A seats in Upper Class (Virgin Atlantic’s Business class) will offer the most privacy. At the end of the Business class cabin is located the onboard Bar.

For passengers in economy, all fares (even Economy Light) include a meal service and you get at each and every seat your personal entertainment screen.
