Air Arabia

Air Arabia Opens Its Fifth European Destination: Vienna

Air Arabia is quite a quirky airline. The carrier is based in one of the most restrictive of the Emirates in the UAE, Sharjah. The airport is not that far away from Dubai International. Therefore, to have an airline that would be profitable, the dry emirate of Sharjah had to differentiate from its much more famous neighbour Dubai. What did they do? They started up a low-cost carrier which has created a real presence in the region: Air Arabia. So much so that it is now branching out to further destinations. The newest destination Air Arabia is now ready to start operations to its fifth destination in Europe, Vienna.

About Air Arabia Flight G9970 Sharjah to Vienna

The flight will be coming just ahead of the Christmas holidays in Europe. The first flight will cover the route from Sharjah to Vienna and back on December 20th, 2024. That is particularly good timing as travellers in Europe will be looking for somewhere warm to pass a few days after Christmas day. Also, although Vienna airport gets regular flights from Emirates, Air Arabia can offer a cheaper option for those who don’t mind flying into Sharjah International Airport instead of Dubai, or that are looking for a cheaper option to fly to India or Sri Lanka.

The flight splits its schedule in two. Mondays and Fridays will see the Air Arabia flights operate in the morning with an evening arrival in the UAE. Wednesdays and Fridays instead will see afternoon services that translate into an early morning arrival into Sharjah the next day. Unless you are staying in Sharjah then you’ll have to make your way to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or Ras Al Khaimah.

Air Arabia’s Fifth Destination in Europe

This new Sharjah to Vienna flight is quite an important one for Air Arabia. The airline is further expanding into the rich European market with what will be its fifth route. The airline already operates flights to:

  • Milan-Bergamo (BGY)
  • Athens (ATH)
  • Krakow (KRK)
  • Sarajevo (SJJ)

Vienna however is a gateway to a much wider region in central Europe. The Austrian capital is rapidly reachable from all southern Germany and Czechia. Therefore a destination that allows Air Arabia to test out a much wider sample of new potential customers.
