The Last Piece of The London Airport Lounges Puzzle for Emirates

By far London is Emirates most strategic, important, and lucrative destination and market. So much so that across the three airports served (Heathrow, Gatwick, and Stansted) the Dubai based airline operates 12 daily flights, with many of them being A380 services. However, something was still missing at the latest London airport to join the airline’s network. Stansted was missing a proprietary lounge. That is now no longer the case.

Emirates Finally Has its Very Own Stansted Airport Lounge

Although outstation lounges don’t even come close to what Emirates offers in its home airport of Dubai DXB, this is still a major upgrade. Eligible passengers will have a space to relax in a calmer, soothing environment before boarding their Dubai-bound flight.

The new Emirates Lounge opened for business at the north London airport on September 19th 2024. It now offers accommodation for up to 125 guests. It is, however, a shared space for both First Class and Business Class passengers along with eligible Skywards frequent flyers.

The airline invested a total of 4 million pounds in designing and bringing the new lounge to life. An overdue opening for Emirates which has been serving Stansted International Airport since 2018. The new lounge finally brings the airside experience up to par with its other London airports. Therefore, there is finally a ground experience consistency across all London airports.

Looking at what the lounge offers, among the highlights are:

  • Comfortable interiors with a refreshed and modern design, but still in line with the Emirates brand identity.
  • Gourmet meal options prepared by local “Full Circles Farm” brand

Emirates’ Sixth UK Airport Lounge

Stansted’s Emirates Lounge fills the last gap in the airline’s London lineup. Also, it adds to the five pre-existing airport lounges the airline owns and operates across the UK. The other five being located at:

  • London Heathrow (LHR)
  • London Gatwick (LGW)
  • Birmingham (BMX)
  • Glasgow (GLA)
  • Manchester (MAN)

The only airport now that doesn’t have such a facility and is currently served by the UAE based airline is Newcastle. No news whether this airport too will see a lounge open within its terminal.

Who Has Access to Emirates Lounges?

There are two ways you can become eligible for access to Emirates Lounges at outstations:

  • By frequent flyer status
  • By Travel Class

To get access as a frequent flyer at outstations you need to be a Skywards Gold or higher member (Platinum or IO). While to get access with your travel class you need to have a business or first class booking. Keep in mind that the cheapest business class fare, Business Class Special, does not include lounge access.
