Etihad Adds Second Weekly Flight to Shanghai

We are seeing many airlines return to the Chinese market as a direct result of the people’s republic relaxing quarantine measures. This is the case of Etihad Airways which is all set to increase its capacity and frequency to one of the countries main gateways. The Abu Dhabi based airline will increase its flights to Shanghai starting February 2023. Let’s find out more in detail how the airline’s operations will change.

How The Etihad Abu Dhabi Shanghai Flight will Change

At the moment, in late 2022, Etihad operates a single weekly flight to Shanghai’s Pudong Airport (PVG). Flight number EY862 will, starting February 2023, become a double weekly connection.

Clearly the flight numbers of the outbound and inbound flight will remain the same. And the flight will follow this new schedule:

Abu Dhabi –> Shanghai

  • Flight EY862 will fly out of (AUH) Abu Dhabi on Mondays at 01:20AM to land in Shanghai (PVG) at 14:10 the same day.
  • Flight EY862 will fly out of (AUH) Abu Dhabi on Thursdays at 21:50 to land in Shanghai (PVG) at 10:40 AM the next day.

Estimated flight time is 8 hours 50 minutes.

Shanghai –> Abu Dhabi

  • Flight EY867 will fly out of Shanghai (PVG) on Saturdays and Tuesdays at 16:30 to land in (AUH) Abu Dhabi at 21:50 the same day.

Estimated flight time is 9 hours 20 minutes.

The aircraft for the Abu Dhabi Shanghai sector will vary according to operational necessities. However you should always see either one of Etihad’s 787s or one of the 777s on the route.
