Etihad Airways Boosts Flights to Rome Fiumicino and Milan Malpensa

As the global demand for air transport continues to recover, Italy is closely involved in this upturn. Etihad Airways, one of the leading carriers from the Middle East, will soon increase its flight offerings to Italy’s two main airports: Rome Fiumicino and Milan Malpensa.

Etihad Airways Increases Rome Fiumicino to Abu Dhabi Flights to 11 Times a Week

Currently, until November 4, 2023, the United Arab Emirates’ flagship carrier provides seven weekly flights. This frequency is set to significantly rise by the end of the year, from the current seven weekly flights, one per day, on the Rome to Abu Dhabi route to 11 weekly flights. To the existing Etihad EY86 flight, a new connection numbered EY84 will be added. The additional flights for the Rome to Abu Dhabi route will be scheduled every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Here is the new flight schedule from Rome to Abu Dhabi with Etihad starting November 4, 2023:

Aircraft for Flights EY83/85 from Abu Dhabi to Rome

Flight number EY85, operational before November 4, 2023, will continue to be served using the Boeing 777-300ER, the aircraft with the highest seating capacity after the Airbus A380 in Etihad’s fleet. The new additional flight, number EY83, will be served using the smaller Boeing 787-9. This is a way to assess actual demand on the route before potentially upgrading to a larger aircraft.

10 Additional Weekly Etihad Flights on the Milan Abu Dhabi Route

A similar strategy applies to Milan Malpensa. Starting from November 2023, the Milanese airport will also see a significant increase in Etihad flights to Abu Dhabi, moving from the current seven weekly flights, one per day, to 10 weekly flights. In addition to the daily flight EY88, a new Milan to Abu Dhabi connection, EY80, will be introduced starting November 21, 2023. These two flights will follow the schedule below:

Unlike the two flights to Rome, the Etihad Airways connections from Abu Dhabi to Milan Malpensa are served by aircraft with a slightly lower overall capacity. The morning flight EY81/88 is operated by a Boeing 787-10, while the evening flight EY79/80 is operated by a Boeing 787-9.
