Just recently Etihad Airways has announced it will significantly power up its network in coming weeks and months. The UAE based airline will be increasing services across the globe and will also be starting up some new sectors. Two of the new flights to join the Etihad destination network are in India. In this post I’ll be covering exactly these new flights from Abu Dhabi to India that Etihad Airways will be starting up.
Which Cities Will Etihad Start Flying To In India?
Both new Etihad destinations are located on the Indian west coast. Specifically the new destinations are:
- Kozhikode (CCJ)
- Thiruvananthapuram (TRV)
The two new Indian destinations will allow the middle eastern carrier to enhance its offering to the many expats around the world who regularly go back home to visit family and friends.
However Thiruvananthapuram in particular is also quite a well know tourist destination within India, even for foreigners. So having Thiruvananthapuram in its network enhances the airline’s holiday destination offering.
As for the flight numbers here’s how the two new services will be designated:
- Abu Dhabi (AUH) to Kozhikode (CCJ) will fly as EY292
- Abu Dhabi (AUH) to Thiruvananthapuram (TRV) will fly as EY248
When Will The New Flights Start Operating?
The new services are scheduled to start operating on the exact same day. Both flights EY292 and EY248 will commence operations on January 1st 2024.
How Often Will Etihad Fly to Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode?
Both flights will have have a daily frequency from day 1, or 7 weekly flights.
The Schedule For The New Etihad Abu Dhabi to Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram Flights?
Both flights will feature one daytime sector and a night time sector. However, as we’ll see below in the tables, one flight has the night sector on the outbound leg while the other on the inbound leg.

Which Aircraft Will Fly The Routes?
Along with the launch date these 2 new Etihad flights to India also share the aircraft type that will initially serve them. Although being a daily service Etihad will be testing the routes out with its smallest aircraft initially to verify feedback on passenger loads first hand.
Etihad will be using for its flights to Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram the Airbus A320. These EY planes are fitted with:
- 16 Business Class Recliners in a 2-2 layout
- 120 Economy Class Seats in a 3-3 layout
