Qatar Airways Expands Its 2024 Summer Destination Network in Europe

The planning for the 2024 summer schedule is well underway for all airlines. Qatar Airways is no exception as the carrier plans to add two new destinations to its global network in the coming summer season. Here’s which flights the middle eastern carrier will add to its 2024 summer schedule and how they will operate.

In this post:

The New Qatar Airways 2024 European Destinations

Qatar Airways has some ground to make up on its main competitor, Emirates, in regards to its network in Europe. The Doha based airline is missing some strategic destinations in the European continent which is looking to move in the direction of filling in 2024.

There will be 2 new Qatar Airways European destinations in 2024. The airline will be adding to its network:

  • Hamburg (HAM) – QR89
  • Venice (VCE) – QR125

Both new flights will take off ahead of the next summer season with a significant number of flight frequencies, as we’ll later see.

The importance of the QR Venice Flight

For Qatar Airways, incorporating Venice into its destination roster holds considerable significance. The enchanting city of Venice is one of the most sought-after tourist destinations worldwide. The absence of Venice in the airline’s offering could be seen as a considerable gap, especially given that competitors like Emirates have already resumed their flights. The absence of a direct Venice flight is made all the more penalising considering that EK and QR compete head to head in many key markets from which Venice-bound travellers originate. Having Venice among its destinations means that they can compete on a level playing field in these markets.
