Ahead of the summer season many airlines are upping their services across the globe in order to intercept growing demand in the aviation industry. This is also the case for Canadian flag carrier Air Canada. The maple leaf airline has started its new service from Montreal (YUL) to Amsterdam (AMS). About the New Montreal Amsterdam Air Canada Flight AC900
The new Air Canada Montreal (YUL) Amsterdam (AMS) AC900 flight that started operation on June 2nd will be, at least for the time being, a seasonal service. Flights be available from June 2nd to October 15th. A connection perfectly suited to offer more flexibility to AC’s customers on the Canadian east coast.
Flight AC900 will compliment, with its 5 weekly services, the daily Toronto (YYZ) Amsterdam (AMS) flight which operates year round. Specifically flight AC900 will operate on:
- Mondays
- Tuesdays
- Wednesdays
- Fridays
- Saturdays
Once in Amsterdam passengers will be able to connect onto domestic European services as AMS airport is one of the main hubs in the continent. However seamless travel will be mainly something available to those travelling onto other Star Alliance airlines. AMS is home to the Dutch flag carrier KLM that participates in the Skyteam alliance.
Also the flight will be powered partly by SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) as part of Air Canada’s plan to reduce its overall carbon emissions.
The Montreal (YUL) Amsterdam (AMS) AC900 flight schedule
As mentioned the flight will have 5 weekly frequencies. Departures from Montreal and Amsterdam are staggered as the flight from Montreal arrives into Amsterdam the following day to departure. More in detail here’s how the flight will operate:
- AC900 will depart Montreal (YUL) at 22:10 arriving into Amsterdam at 11:00 the next morning.
- Return flight AC901 will depart Amsterdam (AMS) at 14:00 arriving into Montreal at 15:30.
The Plane Chosen For the AC900 Flight
The plane is the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. This is one of the smaller long haul planes present in the Air Canada fleet. It is quite a versatile plane as it can serve both routes with a smaller demand or smaller airfields.
Specifically the Air Canada 787-8 features:
- 20 Business Class lie flat beds in a 1-2-1 layout. All seats have direct aisle access.
- 21 Premium Economy seats in a 2-3-2 layout.
- 214 Economy Class seats in a 3-3-3 layout
It’s likely that if passenger numbers increase dramatically over the summer that the airline might switch this plane for a higher capacity option.
