Among American based airlines, Alaska Airlines is the one the focuses the most on the west coast. Most of the airline’s operations are focused on offering non stop flights to destinations located in the US west coast. Therefore California is inevitably the state where Alaska concentrates most of its efforts. In late 2023 the carrier will be launching a new service within the state of California connecting Burbank to San Francisco. Here are all the details of the new service.
The New Alaska Airlines Burbank to San Francisco Service Details
Alaska Airlines will be launching the new service from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to Burbank Hollywood Airport (BUR) starting December 14th 2023. That means the flight will be available just in time to intercept the peak holiday seasonality.
In order to accomodate the high forecastable traffic figures the flight will be from day one at least a daily flight. The San Francisco to Burbank Alaska flight will further up services to 3 daily connections during peak travel season.

The Plane For The New Alaska Flights
Strictly speaking it won’t be Alaska Airlines operating these flights. The new San Francisco to Burbank flights will be operated by SkyWest Airlines under the Alaska livery colours. SkyWest is a US based airline that specialises in regional flights.
In fact the plane that will be flying these new routes is one of the most popular regional jets the Embraer E-175. Therefore capacity won’t be extremely high on each flight but the 3 times per day frequency counterbalances that. SkyWest Airlines has its Embraer E-175 setup in a 2 class configurations with:
- 12 Domestic Business Class Seats in a 1-2 layout
- 64 Economy class seats in a 2-2 layout
