Porter Airlines is among the largest users of the new generation of Embraer E2 jets. These planes make up almost half of the airline’s fleet and are the only jets it operates. The only other aircraft type operated is the turboprop DHC-8. The Embraer E195-E2 is therefore the backbone of the carrier’s longer range operations, including a huge chunk of its flights to the US. The new Toronto to Tampa, Florida, route will be no exception. However something truly unique about this new Porter Airlines service. Let’s take a closer look at how the flight will operate and what makes it unique.
What Makes Porter Airlines Toronto to Tampa Flight PD527
Although it might seem like an ordinary new flight connecting 2 north American destinations, there is something that makes it quite the little special service. This is in fact the first flight to serve a US destination Porter Airlines operates using its fleet of Embraer E195-E2. All flights prior to PD527 were operated using the Dash 8 mainly in the northeast region.
However this will not remain the only US Embraer E2 flight for very long in the Porter network. In just a matter of days the airline will commence operations to another Florida destination. The next destination to see the Porter E195-E2 will be Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers.
Porter is expanding rapidly so it is to be expected that the carrier will launch more and more services across north America into the US in upcoming months.

The Plane For the Flight
The plane for the flight, as mentioned above is the Embraer E195-E2. This is the only plane in the airline’s fleet capable of covering the distance. The E2 family of Embraer jets is among the quietest available making it a passenger favourite. Also the fact that the cabin is laid out with a 2-2 configuration makes it feel quite roomy and there are no central seats.
Only economy class is available on the flight although there is the option to purchase an extra leg room seat in the first 4 rows of the cabin at a premium.
