LATAM Airlines has just opened of a new, particularly important, ULR route for its network. The new service connects the two most populous countries in north and south America: the United States and Brazil. Flight LA8086 is now connecting Sao Paulo Guarulhos and Los Angeles LAX airports. Furthermore, the service sees the south American airline work hand in hand with Delta Air Lines. This new service is in fact a joint venture between the two airlines. So, let’s dive into the details of the news regarding LATAM’s flight LA8086.

Why The LATAM Is Launching The New Sao Paulo to Los Angeles LA8086 Service
The United States and California are the most visited travel destination for Brazilian holidaymakers in Sao Paulo. Unfortunately, before the launch of LATAM flight LA8086 there were no direct services between Los Angeles and Sao Paulo. That meant that passengers needed to connect onto another service somewhere on their way, either in the US with an American operator or in Santiago or Lima if flying with LATAM.
The south American airline has in fact two services already to Los Angeles International Airport from:
- Lima (Perù)
- Santiago (Chile)
The new LATAM LA8086 flight now offers a direct and convenient service to fly from Sao Paulo to Los Angeles. As to why Delta has the joint venture with LATAM, simply put the American carrier holds a 20% stake in the south American airline, therefore has direct interest. In simpler terms LATAM is Delta’s way into the south American market.
The LATAM Sao Paulo to Los Angeles LA8086 Flight Schedule
The new Sao Paulo to Los Angeles flight LATAM Airlines has launched is conveniently scheduled to operate during the night. Personally this is my favourite kind of ULR flight as it allows you to adapt quickly to the new time zone although there isn’t a huge difference between the two cities served by this flight.
Specifically LATAM flight LA8086 from Sao Paulo to Los Angeles will operate 3 times per week with services every:
- Tuesday (returning on Wednesday)
- Thursday (returning on Friday)
- Saturday (returning on Sunday)

2 Planes For the LA8086 Route
The route will see different planes fly the sector depending on the seasonality. During high season LATAM will use its largest plane, the Boeing 777-300ER. However after November 2023 the plane will switch to the smaller, easier to fill, Boeing 787-9.
The LATAM 777-300ER features:
- 38 Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 configuration.
- 50 Economy+ seats in a 3-4-3 configuration
- 372 Economy Class seats in a 3-4-3 configuration
LATAM’s 777-300ER business class seats turn into lie flat beds and are produced by British manufacturer Thompson Aero, and are the Vantage XL model.
Economy+ seats offer extra legroom compared to the standard Economy Class seat.
The LATAM 787-9 features:
- 30 Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 configuration.
- 57 Economy+ seats in a 3-3-3 configuration
- 213 Economy Class seats in a 3-3-3 configuration
The LATAM Boeing 787-9 business class seats are also produced by Thompson Aero and are the same Vantage XL seat. On the other hand there are 57 Economy+ seats and just 213 Economy Class seats.
Easier To Travel Onwards From LAX
Thanks to the joint venture between LATAM and Delta, it’ll be easy and seamless for passengers arriving on the new LA8086 Sao Paulo to Los Angeles service travel onwards to other destinations on the Delta domestic network.
