Boeing Deliveries in 2024 Q2 Still Hurting

Boeing is trying as hard as it can to straighten the ship and get back on to the correct route. The north American manufacturer has initiated operations to acquire Spirit Aerosystems (splitting it with Airbus) and made significant managerial changes in its corporate structure. However, it is still too early to see any tangible effect of all this. Deliveries are still hurting and therefore, the gap with 2023 is continuing to broaden with 2023. Let’s look at what happened in Q2 in terms of aircraft deliveries and compare it to the prior year.

Boeing Still Taking a Hit in Aircraft Deliveries in Q2

Boeing is still facing quite some issues, both reputationally and operationally. The manufacturer has had to spend quite some time explaining its actions and just as much straightening out what has proven to be an imperfect production line. All that translates to delivery numbers that have slowed down further when comparing them to the prior year.

The slowdown in deliveries involved both its flagship narrow and wide body plane. Both the 737 and the 787 saw many less planes handed over to airlines than last year. Obviously, the strongest slowdown involved the 737 which in normal conditions is produced at a much faster rate than the more complex and larger Dreamliner.

Finally, the delays in certification of the 777X also mean that there have been, and will be for the foreseeable future, near to 0 deliveries of what is Boeing’s largest commercial jet.

What to Look Forward to In Coming Weeks

We can look to the longer period hoping to see better figures in the coming data releases. Who knows maybe aided by some certification news regarding the 737 MAX 10 and 7.

Looking to the immediate future there is an event that is certainly marked red in the Boeing calendar. That is the Farnborough which will start on July 22nd and might have some pleasant surprises for the manufacturer.
