Finally Air France has possibly tested its own business class seats, or listened to some passenger feedback. Its newest A350-900 business class seats are hard. However, the latest cabin product update is finally addressing that.

In this post:

Air France Enhances Sleep Comfort in Business Class

I tried the new Air France Airbus A350-900 business class seats for myself in late 2024. I flew on the new Air France business class layout flying from Seoul Incheon to Paris CDG on my way home to Rome Fiumicino International Airport.

Air France’s newest A350-900 Business Class seat, photographed during boarding on flight AF267 from Seoul to Paris.

I had serious difficulties getting to sleep on that seat. The structure, to save on weight, has been made very light and thin. However, on the passenger’s end, the in-flight experience isn’t the best. The seat is way too firm and you can feel the creases of where the seat folds to return to the seated position.

I thought the product was overall very good value, but I couldn’t believe there were no mattresses or seat toppers in business class. Something many other airlines do provide.

There must have been a lot of feedback on the same line as mine, because Air France business class now also includes seat mattress toppers.

Available on All Long-Haul Flights From and To Paris Charles de Gaulle

All long haul flights, provided they are departing or directed towards Paris CDG, will now have seat mattress toppers available for each seat. The few long haul flights departing Paris Orly will not.

The seat mattress topper will be provided to each Air France business class passenger upon boarding. Therefore, passengers can place it on their seat immediately and indulge in a significantly more comfortable experience that provided before.

A Long-Awaited Upgrade After Feedback on Seat Firmness

I personally feel this was a cabin product update long overdue for Air France business class. In the catering and design departments Air France offers an outstanding experience in its premium cabin, however, it did feel like it was missing out on the opportunity of hitting a home run by overlooking small but important details as the mattress topper.

I certain that many others, like me, complained about the seat firmness and I’m also confident internal reviews have been conducted. Reason why this update finally has come to be.
