What’s new at Bergamo Airport
Bergamo International Airport has recently opened its new and improved state-of-the art terminal. The facility comes with major and significant upgrades over what was previously offered.
The new terminal features a new expanded check-in aerea at the ground floor covering a total floorspace of 4,300 square meters. 64 check-in desks are available for use split between self service and staffed desks.

Moving beyond the check-in facilities, new security check facilities are now present at Milan Bergamo airport. New generation X-Ray machines that allow to leave fluids and electronic devices will make traveling much less stressful. A grand total of 14 security check lines are now present which should ensure that waiting times remain contained even in peak traffic hours. Access to the security checks will be granted by automatic boarding pass scanning gates.
Finally, Bergamo International airport also expanded its airside floorspace. Two new gates serving exclusively non-Schengen (EU) destinations have been built and will give the airport more headspace to grow long haul services.
The price tag for this strategic upgrade? 41 million Euro. Work had started in March 2025 and has taken just under 2 years to complete.
A strategic upgrade for one of Europe’s top low-cost hubs
Bergamo is one of Italy’s busiest airports and a strategic asset for the wider northern Italian region along with many low-cost airlines. If you’re flying low cost to Milan chances are very high that you’ll be boarding a flight to Bergamo. The airport has been massively successful in attracting services. So much so that it has had to expand its terminal capacity to keep up.
This upgrade will future-proof the airport for the coming years. Allowing it to keep growing on both domestic EU flights and longer non-EU high profitability services.
