Biman Bangladesh Adds More Boeing Aircraft to Order Book

Biman Bangladesh expands its order backlog with Boeing by placing an order for additional 11 planes including 6 Boeing 737 MAX 8 and 5 Boeing 787.

Exactly as happened with Turkish Airlines’ new aircraft order this additional Biman Bangladesh order too took place in occasion of the UN general assembly. The Bangladeshi flag carrier has added to its prior order placed in May this year with 11 more units.

Another 11 Boeing Planes Ordered By Biman Bangladesh

Biman Bangladesh had placed earlier this year its largest ever single order with Boeing. That order, announced on May 1st 2026, included a supply of 10 Boeing 787s and 4 737 MAX 8s.

The airline has just announced a new order which is almost as large as that first one for 11 planes.

Biman added to Boeing’s order books:

  • 5 Boeing 787-10
  • 6 Boeing 737 MAX 8

That brings this year’s total orders from Biman to 25 units.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines Boeing 787 during takeoff. The airline is modernizing its fleet with more aircraft of the type.
Biman Bangladesh has ordered new Boeing 787s to expand its fleet and renovate it while serving more effectively destinations in the Middle East, Europe, and North America.

Confirmed as an Exclusive Boeing Aircraft Operator

Setting aside the fleet of regional turboprop aircraft, Biman Bangladesh reaffirmed with this new order its status as an exclusive Boeing aircraft operator.

The Bangladeshi airline already operates the two aircraft types it ordered this year and is looking to replace some of the older 787 and further expand its operational capabilities.

Biman received some of the earliest Dreamliners produced, meaning that some are already well into their latter stages of active service.

However having ordered 15 Boeing 787s signals the airline is not only looking to replace aging planes but also expand its route network and global presence.

Serving the diaspora is a massive business that Biman has always tried to make the core of its operations. The issue is having to compete with foreign carriers which have stronger operations.

That’s where these additional aircraft come into play with the airline trying to leverage the “home away from home” feeling.
