A New Way to Earn Asia Miles

Uber Taxi is one of the most convenient ways to get around Hong Kong as a visitor. No need to negotiate with the cabbie, you have an upfront fare and the destination is already pre-selected meaning there can’t be any misunderstandings. Likewise its extremely helpful for locals getting on with their day to day life.

Now this mode of transport also comes with an additional perk. You can now earn Asia Miles, Cathay Pacific’s frequent flyer program currency, on any trip with Uber Taxi.

How the Partnership Works

The system is quite simple, it works similarly to the Air France ALL partnership, where you link your ALL (Accor Hotels) to your Flying Blue account and you earn miles on your hotel stays.

The Uber Taxi Cathay Pacific partnership works in a similar way. You link your Cathay Member account from the Uber app. Then you get credited with Asia Miles for your trips with a variable reward depending on the trip type:

  • 20 Asia Miles on every Uber Taxi trip in Hong Kong
  • 40 Asia Miles on rides to and from the airport

Welcome Bonus For any New Uber Users

Additionally if you’re new to the Uber experience and are in or visiting Hong Kong this might be a good chance to give it a try.

New users additionally to the Cathay Pacific Asia Miles offered on every trip, also get a welcome bonus of 500 Asia Miles. Which is a nice and easy way of boosting miles rapidly in one burst.

Setting up an account is really easy. Download the app give some basic information and if you’re an Apple user you’re payments will easily go through you Apple Pay wallet, which is extremely convenient. No need to input payment information as you need to when using other apps of this type in Asia, such as Grab in Singapore.

Linking accounts is really simple and takes just a couple of minutes. Only thing to keep in mind is to have your Cathay Member access information on hand as you’ll have to login to your account via the Uber App to link the two.
