Emirates unveils a new special livery, and this one is more of a statement than just a mere color scheme. It’s difficult not to see it as a response to recent events, with the airline signalling strength and national pride.

Emirates unveils its new special livery
Emirates has just rolled out of the hangar a newly repainted Airbus A380. The aircraft in question is A6-EVG, one of the over 100 aircraft of the type that Emirates operates.
The aircraft now features a new livery, depicting the already present on the tail of the aircraft UAE flag across the fuselage. The additional flag covers the second half of the fuselage aft of the Emirates wording.

It is a stylized 3D image of the UAE flag flying in the wind. This special livery will be soon applied even to another aircraft, a Boeing 777-300ER, which is the second largest aircraft in the Emirates fleet.
The airline states that this is part of the ‘This Flag Will Always Fly’ campaign responding to the nationwide initiative launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Why the livery is more of a statement than just a color scheme change
The special livery applied to the A380 and soon to be applied to this 777 is a statement and a clear message. The UAE was hit hard by Iran during the conflict with the U.S. and Israel. Not only was physical property hit, but also the image of the country took a big hit.
Therefore, this new livery is a way of saying we still stand strong with the airline and the country, posturing to project strength and stability. A way of attracting attention and emphasizing that the UAE still remains a safe place and a safe transit hub for passengers.
That is what I read into this initiative of applying the new flag livery to the two aircraft. Now, if that is the case and the UAE in Dubai remains a safe place for transit and for your travel plans, still isn’t 100% sure, with skirmishes and the conflict still somewhat ongoing in the region.
However, this is something that the country and the airline must do to win over trust and bookings once again.
