A New European Destination for FlyDubai with new Flight FZ1425 to Basel

Europe is clearly a strategic market for Dubai-based low-cost carrier FlyDubai. The airline is just a short five to 6 hours away from most European major cities and can then offer onwards connectivity in both the Gulf region and onwards in Asia from its hub in Dubai International Airport. It’s therefore unsurprising that the airline, which has ambitious expansion plans, has just opened a new route in Europe, namely flight FZ1425 from Dubai to Basel.

FlyDubai’s Most Western Route and First to Switzerland

There are two interesting facts about FlyDubai‘s new flight from Dubai to Basel. This will be the first destination the low-cost carrier serves in Switzerland. The other interesting fact is that flight FZ1425 will also be the most western destination in the airline’s destination network. Prior to the launch of this flight that title was held by the Sardinian airport of Olbia in the beautiful Costa Smeralda. Basel is now the airline’s 29th destination in Europe.

About The New FlyDubai FZ1425 Flight

Flights on the FZ1425 service have already taken off. Operations commenced on August 7th 2024 and now have a four times weekly frequency. The flight is available every:

• Monday
• Wednesday
• Friday
• Sunday

Unlike most FlyDubai routes, which depart from Terminal 2 in Dubai International Airport, FZ1425 will use the facilities of Terminal 3. By far a much nicer terminal and a much nicer experience for passengers. Terminal 2 offers a travel experience more akin to a bus station than an airport.

As FlyDubai operates an all Boieng 737 fleet, this flight too will be operated by a 737, specifically the MAX 8 version. These planes have a 2-class configuration featuring:

• 12 or 10 Business Class Seats
• 156 Economy Class Seats

The business class experience will vary massively between the 12 and 10 seat configurations. Planes fitted with 12 seats feature recliner seats in a 2-2 layout over 3 rows. Those with 10 seats feature flat-bed capable seats in 2-2, 1-1, 2-2 layout over 3 rows making row 2 ideal if travelling alone.
