We’re still in the height of summer but work is ongoing for route planning departments at airlines around the globe. That is also the case with British Airways announcing 3 new routes that will launch during the 2025 winter season. Two leisure and one business route are coming to the BA network. Here’s what it’s all about.
British Airways New Routes Overview
Three new routes have just been announced by British Airways for the winter 2025 season. The new services are:
- London Gatwick – Rabat (BA2820)
- London Gatwick – Graz (BA2865)
- London City Airport – Madrid (BA3270/BA3272
The first two new British Airways flights are clearly leisure oriented services. How can I say so? I’ll give you three very clear indicators of this:
- Both flights depart from London Gatwick Airport. That is the airport British Airways has most of its leisure flights depart from. London City and Heathrow are much more business flight oriented.
- BA new flights to Graz and Rabat are also served by British Airways Euro Flyer. That is the airline’s subsidiary based in London Gatwick Airport which operates primarily leisure routes.
- Lastly the flight frequency is very low, a typical characteristic of leisure flights. Tourists don’t necessitate great flight flexibility as business travelers do. Therefore airlines can get away with having just a couple of flights per week.

Rabat Route Details – Morocco’s Capital from London Gatwick
British Airways’ new flight to Rabat will become the airline’s third route to the North African country. BA already operates flights to the much more popular destinations of:
- Marrakech
- Agadir
BA2820 will commence operations on November 5th 2025 just ahead of the winter season, offering a new warm escape for users in the greater London region.
Two weekly frequencies will operate the route on:
- Wednesday
- Sunday

Madrid Service Enhancement – Business Focus from London City
The outlier of the three new British Airways routes is Madrid. This, contrary to the other two is not a leisure service, BA’s new London City Airport to Madrid flight is a business oriented flight. For two reasons:
- First and foremost it’s a double daily flight during all working days of the week. Business travelers demand greater flexibility than tourists to match their schedule.
- BA3270 and BA3272 depart from London City Airport. That is the downtown airport located near the city’s financial district. Not the most glamorous airport but extremely convenient for business travelers, avoiding a drive or ride down to Heathrow.
Additionally the new British Airways Madrid flights from London City Airport intensifies IAG connections between the group’s focus cities while also feeding traffic onto long haul flights to South America. First flight for BA3272 in BA winter schedule 2025 is scheduled for December 1st 2025.
On Mondays and Tuesdays
- BA3272 departs London City Airport (LCY) at 09:10 with arrival into Madrid (MAD) at 12:30.

How much do BA’s new routes cost?
- London Gatwick – Rabat starts £70 each way
- London Gatwick – Graz starts £60 each way
- London City Airport – Madrid starts £78 each way
However these are prices for basic fares which don’t include all that much. If you require any ancillary service or product that price is sure to rise.
Booking Information and Aircraft Details
Flights are already up for sale on BA’s official sales channels, primarily its website. While as for the aircraft type they won’t be sharing the same aircraft type.
The new British Airways flights to Rabat and Graz will be operated utilizing the Airbus A320 with an all economy class seat interior. However, a two class service will be offered by blocking the central seats creating an effective 2-2 seat layout in the forward of the cabin along with premium catering.
The other new BA flight from London City Airport to Madrid will be on an Embraer E190. Reason for that choice? There simply wasn’t another option. London City Airport has very strict takeoff and landing performance requirements making the E190 one of the very few planes in the BA fleet capable of operating there.
British Airways’ three new winter 2025 routes demonstrate the airline’s strategic approach to network expansion, combining leisure destinations from Gatwick with business-focused services from London City Airport.
