The Europe to Asia and Australia routes are some of the most profitable for airlines in the middle east such as Etihad. Services that offer high operating margins between wealthy and high-volume markets. To make the business model work though the airline needs to have an extensive destination network on both ends of the routes. Etihad has therefore been expanding its network and frequencies in Asia and now even in Europe. Summer of 2025 will see the airline operate flights to 2 new destinations in Europe, namely Prague and Warsaw.
Etihad Airways Strengthening Presence in EU Market with Flights to Prague and Warsaw
Europe, as already mentioned, is a strategic market for super-connector airlines in the middle east, such as Etihad. The airline relies on a constant flow of passengers travelling on its east-west routes to fuel its business model. Prague and Warsaw allow the airline to enhance its European flight offering by entering two tourist destinations for passengers in Asia, as well as being two growing economies for outbound traffic.
Flights are scheduled to start operating from Etihad’s Abu Dhabi International Airport on June 2nd 2025. That launch date applies to both flights:
- EY155 – Abu Dhabi to Prague
- EY159 – Abu Dhabi to Warsaw

The Dreamliner Once Again the Aircraft of Choice
Unsurprisingly Etihad has selected the 2-class configured Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner as the aircraft of choice for its flights to Prague and Warsaw. I say unsurprisingly for a couple of reasons:
- The 2 class Dreamliner has the perfect ratio of Business to Economy class seats for a new route that must be tested and that might not immediately demand premium seats in large numbers.
- Etihad Airways has made the Dreamliner aircraft family the backbone of its long-haul services as it is the most present wide body aircraft in its fleet.
These planes have quite an interesting layout and interiors in Business class. I particularly like this cabin disposition and the color scheme the airline uses aboard its planes in all travel classes. Overall the 2-class Etihad Airways Boeing 787-9s offer:
- 28 Business Class seats
- 262 Economy Class seats
Homing in on Business Class, Etihad configured its own with a 1-2-1 layout with seats alternating between rows in forward and backward facing. What do I mean by that? That odd numbered rows have the window seats facing backwards and the central 2 facing forward. Even numbered rows on the other hand have the opposite layout. So, keep that in mind if you are sensitive to which direction you face in when flying.
Also, all the 28 business class seats have a sliding privacy door. Meaning that you can isolate yourself from the rest of the cabin and create that suite effect.
Lastly, something to be aware of when selecting your seat. If you love looking out of the window you might want to choose an even numbered ro window-side seat. That’s because even numbered rows have the seats situated closer to the fuselage and window while odd once are closer to the aisle and have not as good of a view. I would also avoid row 5, which is the first row on the plane, which doesn’t have a view at all as the first window after behind the door is blocked off.
Economy seats on the other hand are all equal, except for window side row 44 seats. Instead of having 3 seats there are only 2, making it a good option if travelling as a couple if you are willing to put up with a bit of noise from toilets and rear galley.

Finally, Lets Talk About the Timings For Etihad’s New Prague and Warsaw Flights
EY155 and EY159 flights to Prague and Warsaw have almost identical timings. This might surprise anyone that isn’t accustomed to the super-connector business model used by airlines in the Middle East. That is purposefully done to create an incoming wave effect that then funnels traffic onto the subsequent outgoing wave of flights. So, flights arrive in from Europe and shortly after flights takeoff from Abu Dhabi towards Asia and Australia.
With all of that out of the way, here’s the flight schedule for the two services:
