It hasn’t been a great hit with airlines and carriers around the world, but there is little doubt that it is among passengers’ favourite plane to fly on. The Airbus A380 offers an unrivaled level of comfort when flying in all cabins, be it First, Business or even Economy Class. The roomy interiors and the smooth ride make it a fantastic plane to travel long-haul on. It also enabled airlines such as Etihad to get highly creative with the interior design. In the wake of 2020, it looked highly unlikely to see many Etihad A380s flying again. However, here we are with the Abu Dhabi based airline ready to introduce the A380 on a new route. The EY A380 will soon touchdown in Singapore.

Etihad Introducing Its Highly Appreciated Airbus A380 on Abu Dhabi to Singapore Flight

Singapore has become the financial capital in southeast Asia. With Hong Kong losing its original identity many corporations have been relocating within Asia. For many Singapore is the ideal location to set up their new regional headquarters. The city is safe, politically stable, and very importantly extremely well connected to all major cities around the world.

Etihad Airways is among carriers that fly daily services to the city-state of Singapore. Currently the route is operated using a very modern Boeing 787-10. One of the largest planes in the carrier’s fleet and quite a rare plane overall.

From November 1st 2024, the airline will be introducing one of its Airbus A380s on EY496 daily flight from Abu Dhabi to Singapore.

The schedule will remain untouched and will see the flight operate as follows:

These planes are fitted with extremely comfortable and luxurious premium cabins. Etihad in fact features on its A380 the hugely sought after Residence. What in effect is a miniature apartment in the sky offering the highest levels of privacy and luxury. A way of travelling that is on another level compared to any other travel class as it features a living area, a private bathroom and a separate bedroom.

The rest of the plane is configured with a 3-class layout featuring:

  • 10 First Class suites
  • 70 Business Class seats
  • 417 Economy Class seats

Another Airbus A380 Returning from Storage

Launching a new route on the Airbus A380 means that Etihad will need to pull another of its jets out of desert storage. Currently, August 2024, the airline is flying 5 of its total 10 A380. All of them are tied up in services to the UK and the US and can’t take on another destination without leaving some gaps in the currently served destinations.

Therefore, we’ll a sixth Etihad Airways Airbus A380 return to service. There’s something I never would have imagined saying just 4 years ago. I’ll keep an eye on aircraft movements to figure out which stored A380 will be the lucky one to return to service on flight EY496 Abu Dhabi to Singapore.
