JetBlue to Launch New Boston Flights to Barcelona and Milan in Summer 2026

JetBlue since 2020 has eyed the transatlantic market as the area where it could expand and increase its revenue and profits. 2026 will bring along 2 new transatlantic routes for the American carrier to Spain and Italy. Here’s what the news is all about.

A Major Transatlantic Expansion from JetBlue’s Boston Focus City

Low cost carriers haven’t had an easy couple of years in the US. The business model has struggled to make ends meet all while the big three full service airlines continued to strive. The issues also involved JetBlue which also applied some corrective actions in its operations to return to profitable territory.

However, in 2026 the airline will once again be expanding in what it sees as the largest growth area in its network: transatlantic services. The two new flights will both involve the key strategic JetBlue hub of Boston. Additionally they will both be seasonal flights, covering the summer high-demand months of the year.

Daily Summer Service to Barcelona and Milan

Boston will see two new daily flights depart bound for Europe in 2026 operated by JetBlue. The new services will have JetBlue operate flights from Boston to Milan, Italy, and Barcelona, Spain.

The flights will increase the summer JetBlue flight offering to and from Europe bringing the grand total up to 14 services from both Boston and New York JFK.

As is the case with every other JetBlue transatlantic flight, both Barcelona and Milan services will be daily connections. With the first flight taking off on:

• April 16th 2026 for Barcelona (BCN)
• May 11th 2026 for Milan Malpensa (MXP)

Also, of course, they will be Airbus A321 services. The configuration will feature the lie-flat Mint seats in the premium section of the plane in a 1-1 setup and economy seats across the remainder of the aircraft in a 3-3 setup.

JetBlue’s Growing European Network

The 2026 JetBlue transatlantic network has now grown to a total of 14 flights. Which is an impressive number considering the airline only started to operate such flights since 2020.

It’s first direct flight to Italy, Milan Malpensa (MXP), and its second to Spain, Barcelona (BCN), testify how important flights to Europe are for JetBlue in an economic landscape which has had domestic flight numbers stagnate at best or decrease.
