Jetstar Connects Auckland and Brisbane With New Service

Jetstar Asia Airbus A320-200 for flights from Singapore to Wuxi in China

Just last week we covered some news from Jetstar. Last week the Australian budget airline received its second Airbus A321neo LR, this week the news is about a new route being launched. Let’s find out what the news is about and how the new route will operate.

The New Jetstar Brisbane Auckland Flight

I have personally flown this sector countless times in my years as a cabin crew. Auckland and Brisbane were two of my favorite destinations. However that is a story for another day.

Today we’re talking about Jetstar’s new service, flight number JQ147. The flight will connect, in just over 3 hours the capital of Queensland and New Zealand’s main international airport.

The flight will have a 4 times weekly frequency and will commence operations on the 27th of March 2023. Here’s how the flight will operate from that date onwards:

In occasion of the announcement of this new connection the airline is selling ticket starting 239$ AUD for a one way trip. As always frequency and capacity of this flight will be adjusted once the first operational results will be in.

Jetstar Airbus A320 the airline will also be using on its Brisbane to Auckland route from Australia to New Zealand.

The Aircraft For The Flight

The aircraft selected for the new JQ147 Jetstar flight from Brisbane to Auckland the Airbus A320. One of 55 Jetstar Airbus A320-200 will operate this 4 times weekly connection.

These planes feature a short range optimised cabin in 1 class configuration. This layout with a 3-3 layout is capable of seating up to 186 passengers on a full load.

Going Against Fierce Competition

Jetstar will be going against some pretty fierce competition on this lucrative sector. The Brisbane Auckland route is already served by some giants of aviation, such as:

  • Air New Zealand
  • Qantas (Jetstar’s mother company)
  • Emirates
  • China Airlines

Both price and on time performance on this sector will be key to the possibility of making this operation work for Jetstar.
