The summer season is when European airlines generate most of their annual profits. Passenger traffic increases significantly, driven by both outbound European tourism and inbound demand from overseas markets. To maximise revenues, airlines plan their route networks months in advance. For summer 2026, KLM has announced the launch of three new European destinations.
KLM Cityhopper to Operate All Three Routes
The three new flights will see KLM fly to:
- Jersey
- Oviedo
- Santiago de Compostela
What ties these three routes together is the fact that they will all be operated by the airline’s regional division. That is KLM Cityhopper.
KLM Cityhopper operates a fleet of regional jets primarily deployed on thinner European routes or short-haul services where widebody or mainline narrowbody aircraft would be inefficient.
We’ve got both cases in this story. Jersey is going to be a particularly short international route for KLM. On the other hand Oviedo and Santiago de Compostela are rather niche tourist destinations and won’t drive massive passenger volumes from Amsterdam.

Jersey Becomes KLM’s Newest Channel Islands Destination
Summer 2026 will see KLM launch flights to Jersey, one of Europe’s lesser-covered destinations. Located in the English Channel, the island is a British Crown Dependency and is widely known as a tax haven. Jersey is home to just over 100,000 residents and offers distinctive coastal landscapes and beaches.
KLM will launch the flight on April 4th 2026 with a variable frequency:
- Saturdays only until July 3rd 2026
- Daily until August 30th 2026
- Saturdays only until October 24th 2026
As for the timings:
| Route | Flight N. | Departure | Arrival |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amsterdam-Jersey | KL1097 | 12:05 | 12:25 |
| Jersey-Amsterdam | KL1098 | 12:55 | 15:20 |
The route will be operated by the Embraer E175, one of the smallest aircraft types in KLM Cityhopper’s fleet.
Santiago de Compostela Returns to KLM’s Spanish Network
Then come the two Spanish destinations KLM will be launching in summer of 2026. Santiago de Compostela will launch on May 30th 2026 with:
- Saturday and Sunday service until July 3rd 2026
- Daily service until August 30th 2026
- Saturday and Sunday service until October 24th 2026
As for the timing:
| Route | Flight N. | Departure | Arrival |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amsterdam-Santiago | KL1565 | 13:45 | 16:10 |
| Santiago-Amsterdam | KL1566 | 16:40 | 19:05 |
This flight, depending on the forecasted passenger load will either see an E175 or a slightly larger E190.
Oviedo Added as New Destination in Spain
And lastly, KLM will also launch flights to Oviedo, located in Spain’s northern Asturian region. The flight will commence service on March 29th 2026 and will operate:
- Saturday and Sunday service until July 3rd 2026
- Daily service until August 30th 2026
- Saturday and Sunday service until October 24th 2026
As for the timing:
| Route | Flight N. | Departure | Arrival |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amsterdam-Oviedo | KL1557 | 14:10 | 16:20 |
| Oviedo-Amsterdam | KL1558 | 16:50 | 18:55 |
In this case the E190 will be the aircraft of choice for KLM.
