Korean Air’s First Post Merger Flight Announcement
The flight, I’ll cover its details and specifics in the next section, is KE2183 from Seoul Incheon International airport to Hiroshima in Japan.
What does makes it notable is the fact that this flight will be one of the first services to launch in the new Korean Air post-merger era.
Korean Air will be completing its acquisition of Asiana Airlines on December 17th 2026. That will be the day Korean Air will entirely takeover all Asiana operations with the latter ceasing to exist.
With this flight launching on December 23rd 2026 it’ll be one of the first new services launched by the new airline entity.
KE2183 Seoul to Hiroshima a New Korean Air Daily Service
The new flight will be a year round presence in the Korean Air schedule. Flights will operate daily on the new service KE2183 and will further enhance an already vast regional network.

Hiroshima will become KE’s 17th Japanese destination and will primarily cater to a leisure traveler profile. Korean Air has seen a surge in traffic rerouting away from the Middle East and this onward connection to Japan could also be thought as a travel option for that passenger profile.
The aircraft type used for the new KE2183 service is one of the newest in the airline’s fleet: the Airbus A321neo. The aircraft comes with a 2-class configuration featuring a true business class cabin (not EuroBiz style).

The 8 Collins Aerospace Diamond seats come in a 2-2 configuration meaning that window-seat passengers won’t have direct aisle access. However with flight times clocking in at 1 hour 40 minutes average that won’t be an issue.
Additionally those 8 seats come with lie flat recline capability meaning you can squeeze a power nap in during the flight.
