Although Canada is an attractive market for the middle eastern carriers, it has long been out of their reach. The Canadian government has been very protective in regards to granting flight rights to airlines from this region. Emirates only in the last couple of years was finally able to expand its presence in Canada, with the government loosening its hold. Now, even Qatar Airways will finally commence flights to the country’s largest city and busiest airport, Toronto’s Pearson Airport (YYZ).
Qatar Airways’ Second Route In Canada – Flight QR767
Qatar Airways’ new QR767 flight from Doha to Toronto won’t be an absolute first for the airline in Canada. The Doha based airline already has a daily service to the country, however, serving Montreal. Which is a large city but not the largest and most attractive for airlines to operate from.
Qatar Airways will only start flying to the country’s largest and busiest airport on December 11th 2024, when flight QR767 will cover the route for the first time. That launch date will allow the airline to intercept the winter holiday demand peak in and out of the country.
Unlike its Montreal service, Qatar Airways won’t be flying daily to Toronto off the bat. QR767 will start off as a 3 times weekly service every:
- Wednesday
- Friday
- Sunday
With the schedule of the flight being an all day flight on the way out from Doha and and a night flight transitioning into day on the way back, operating as follows:

Why Is Toronto a Strategic Destination for Qatar Airways?
We all know that Gulf region carriers base much of their business model on funneling passengers from and to their destinations in India. For an extremely long time they have had little to no competition from India’s flag carrier and have been able to take over a substantial portion of the market share.
Toronto, and Canada as a whole, is home to a large Indian expat community which regularly travel back home to visit family and friends. Undeniably this is the customer profile that Qatar Airways and its middle eastern peers aim to cater to when flying to north America.
QSuites Available on Qatar Airways New QR767 Doha to Toronto flight
The Qatari airline will be using on this new service some of its best equipped planes. Qatar Airways is planning to serve the route with its Boeing 777-300ERs which feature the renowned business class QSuites. These are some of the most comfortable business class cabins you can find on a commercial aircraft. Ideal if travelling as a couple and even more if travelling as a group of four. The seats can form a honeymoon suite or even a little lounge for four with the partitions moving out of the way to share the journey with family and friends.
The only issue with this seat and this airline is that it tends to be a little unreliable in terms of which seat you will find aboard. It isn’t uncommon to book thinking you will get a QSuite and then find yourself on a different configuration, which might not even include aisle access.
